Road Trip

Believe it or not I am a really shy person.  I have a really hard time making friends, mostly because I'm one of those people that tries to talk to someone and just CAN'T.  I make the whole situation awkward. You know the type of person I'm talking about...the kind that just somehow kills the conversation and then you are sitting there with nothing left to say but you don't want to just get up and leave...so you just sit there.  Ya, I'm like that with EVERYONE I meet.  And the worst part is, even once I have talked to you once or twice I'm STILL like that.  It is like a curse that wont go away.  So instead I avoid the situation completely (most of the time) and just don't even try to make friends (which honestly is a bummer because I really love having friends).  And, to top it all off, my lack of getting myself into those awkward situations sometimes comes off as being stuck up and people think I don't WANT to talk to them (not the case...I'm just SO bad at it).

Anyway, the whole point of that rant was to say that it is really a bummer that I live so far away from most of my close friends.  Juan and I met in Idaho and most of our friends are either still there or are scattered all over the country.  My good friends from before college are scattered as well, though there are a few around (but of course, with life being crazy like it is, I don't get to see them very often).  That being said, I am grateful that our friends Dave and Gabrielle now live just outside of Sacramento.  Although it is about 2 1/2 hours away, we get to see them every now and then.  Last weekend they blessed their new baby in church and Juan, Maia and I got to go and visit.  It was Maia's very first "road trip" and she did GREAT.

It was so much fun to meet their baby, Cohen (such a little cutie), and compare him to Maia so that I could remember just how little she once was (babies sure do change FAST).

They kept holding hands...ALL by themselves

Maia looks like a monster next to Cohen
And, on Sunday Maia turned 3 months old!  I can't believe how fast time has flown by and yet I can't believe she has only been with us for 3 short months.  She has changed sooo much in the past 3 months.  She is holding herself up really well and she has started grabbing things a lot (and even though  I cut my hair she still manages to grab ahold and NOT let go).  The other day she grabbed my earring and I thought she was going to rip it right out of my ear...I guess it is time to re-evaluate the things I wear.  Pretty soon we will be baby-proofing the apartment because she will be getting into everything.
